Larry Green was chair for the day and welcomed Daryl Moran, Youth Chair for 9810 and DG Nominee, and Youth Exchange student Clemence. Daryl spoke briefly and mentioned the World Assembly in Hamburg Germany which he attended with his Rotarian wife . Our District, he said, sponsored 4 Rotaract Clubs and 16 Interact Clubs which are planting the seeds for future Rotary memberships. He informed us about surveys that have shown that Rotarians have provided 48 Million hours of Community Service which has saved governments some $850M.
The meeting then proceeded to a Forum to discuss Market issues. Pres Geoff opened by stressing the need for strategies to maximise income which Treasurer Ron advised us was falling. The issue had two aspects…Strategic and Operational. Discussion ranged over staffing, layout, marketing, ancillary services such as coin collection and cleaning. All points raised will need to be referred to the Market Committee who will make recommendations to the Board for decision and implementation. Whilst no decisions were made by the meeting it was agreed that we must arrest the slide in income figures by making changes to meet the needs of members, stall holders and customers.
