Message from our President - Ron's Ramblings
Great to see another well attended meeting last week to hear a very interesting story about Grant Hollands’ grandfather and his links to early Melbourne and his First World war experiences as related by Grant.
Good to welcome visitors Barry Oliver again and Nicholas Bowman – first time, to the meeting and we look forward to seeing them both again in the near future.
Due to a visit to the big building out the front of South Road this week I will be an apology for Wednesdays meeting so will unfortunately miss out on our newest member Kellie Carruthers talking about her background and what she does at Marriott. ‘Go Kellie.’ Linda O’Brien will be chairing the meeting.
The Social committee has organised a dinner at the Cheltenham RSL on 27th July, and if you have not indicated your attendance or otherwise now is the time.
Glenda has departed for the warmer climate of Queensland but will return later in the year. If you have any requests or suggestion for god guest speakers please give her a call or send and email. And we will have to wait a few more weeks before Sue Loeliger returns from her wonderful trip overseas to take over as Treasurer.
Neville Kruss will be returning soon after recent surgery.

President Ron was chairperson again for today’s club meeting at Cilantro. Tim Lynch performed Invocation and Julie Reid performed the loyal toast. Our guest speaker today was Grant Holland from the Holland Foundation, and Barry Oliver and Nicholas Bowman were club guests.
Today’s club meeting heralded President Ron Brownlees first club meeting as President for this current Rotary year – held at The Deck in Bay Street Brighton. With our club website down and not knowing who was rostered, President Ron was also Chairperson for today’s meeting. Serge returned as a guest, and Charles joined the meeting via Zoom.

President Ron presented D.G. Ian with a PHF lapel ruby pin and a Centurion Certificate in recognition of donations made by Ian to The Rotary Foundation.
Marg Lucas was our chairperson at today’s club meeting at Cilantro, and marks the last club meeting for the Rotary year. Grant performed Invocation and Faye conducted the loyal toast. Sue and Charles joined the meeting via Zoom. Guests included Trinh, Serge, Barry Oliver, Sharon Haig – Director of Nursing at Sandringham Hospital, Malcolm Chiverton – District 9810 Membership Chair, and partners Ken Oakes, Marilyn Brownlees and Warren Stahel.

A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is preferred.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
