Message from our President - Tim's Tattles .
On Thursday we had our dinner at the Mid Valley Chinese restaurant in Bay Rd Highett. It was a very successful night .
There were very good numbers of Rotarians there and a special guest Julia for the night courtesy of Kellie Carruthers. The food was delicious and the camaraderie terrific. Linda should be commended for arranging this event.
Last wednesday we hosted Karl Russell and Naomi Smith from Cheltenham Secondary College . We invest in the school and it is wonderful to see the results that are forthcoming from the school.
Karl spoke to us about the issues with social media. I must admit that I had no idea that social media had such a damaging and disruptive affect on students.
This week we have Justine Coleman speaking to us about a very topical matter now Community refugees integration and settlement-

REGISTRATION FOR MEETINGS All meetings will now utilise the Registration facility. asking members to register their attendance, or non-attendance, at Club meetings. Note that it is equally important that guests are registered as well.
Members can either register as soon as the event appears in the calendar or respond to the invitation(s) via email to members in the week prior to the meeting. This email will contain a direct link to the event registration page. Here, we ask that you either accept or decline the invitation. You will also have the opportunity to add any guests. Once registered for the event, you will no longer receive an email for that event.
If you choose not to register either your intention to attend or not, it will be assumed you are not attending.

Rotary’s response to the U.S.’s plan to withdraw from the WHO, USAID funding freeze By Rotary International — 6 February 2025
Rotary notes the recent announcement that the United States intends to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO), a partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). We remain resolute in our mission to eradicate polio. As a founding partner of the GPEI, Rotary has for decades worked closely with all the GPEI partners, the U.S. government, and other governments to end polio worldwide. This effort has reduced the number of children paralyzed by polio by 99.9% since 1988. The global effort to eradicate polio has innovated many times over the years to come close to protecting every last child.
On Thursday, Feb 20, 2025 the club held a fellowship evening at the Mid Valleys Restaurant in Cheltenham. A total of some 22 people attended including a number of partners and guests.
A huge thank you to member Linda O'Brien who arranged the whole event. She liaised with the Restaurant to organise the banquet menu and to have the corkage fee waived. Linda even provided some fortune cookies to enjoy at the end of the evening.
I'm sure everyone who attended enjoyed the meal and the fellowship.

At this morning's meeting we had as our guests, the Principal of Cheltenham Secondary College, Karl Russell and Naomi Smith (Communications/business manager).
Chair this morning was Helen Nodrum.
In introducing Karl, Helen pointed out to members that the Club has developed a close connection with CSC through our support of their awards night and, of course the RYDA program.
Guests at this morning's meeting were Carolyn and Peter Worth, guests of Jo Impey.
Our guest speakers were Don Smith, owner and director of AMALOCAL and Sandra Cavallo from Matt's Place.
AMALOCAL is a business providing deliveries to homes in the Bayside, and South East of fresh produce including fruit, vegetables, milk, eggs etc sourced from farmers/growers based in the general south east region. Generally, clients provide a weekly order and the produce is delivered to your door. His base of operation is in Tulip Street, Sandringham.
Treasurer Neville Kruss was our chairperson for today's club meeting at Cilantro. Charles Rener joined via Zoom and Gary Ramage joined the meeting as a guest. Our guest speaker was our own Jenny Stone - Member behind the Badge.
District Governor Colin Byron has released his January, 2025 edition of 9815 Connections.

Waiting in queue:1. Night parkers : 2 Pedestrian count 1096 Market Report: The day started extremely windy very early that put of some stallholders off. The days settled and was pleasant yet warm. Centre Road was blocked due to the Bentleigh Festival which reduced early numbers. A pleasant day for a market.

Note from the Editor re Images and Events
A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is far superior.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
