Message from our President - Ron's Ramblings

Last week I attended the Rotary of Mont Albert/ Surrey Hills to hear a speaker, Jordan Vella from Monash University,  funded by the Australian Rotary Health Foundation, the Danny Frawley Centre and the Rotary Club of MASH. He is doing his PhD on the subject of the mental health problems experienced by elite athletes involved in high impact sport. It was certainly an interesting presentation and I am sure the outcomes will be eagerly awaited by many major sporting bodies.
At the District AGM and presidents meeting last week we heard another good update on the Polio Plus campaign, and  it is time for us to consider our annual contribution to the to this worthwhile worldwide Rotary project. You will recall that we gave a donation of $2200 as a contribution to Helen Parkers DG partners project.
The end of the year is fast approaching and our Christmas luncheon function to be held at Dendy Park on Sunday December 10th awaits us all. Please book early as we need to know final numbers. Cost is $30 per head for a great lunch and some good fellowship.
Member Faye Weeks has been in hospital having some fairly major back surgery and we all send our best wishes and hope she will be back with us soon. Details here.
Roy Kaplan is also on the sick and injured list and we all wish Roy  well as he undergoes investigations and consultations to determine solutions to his problem.
Our last breakfast meeting will be on December 13th and I hope we can see as many as possible to enjoy the Cilantro catering and further festive fellowship. Our first meeting for 2024 is planned for January 17th, venue to be advised.
Yours in Rotary  ‘Create Hope in The World.’
President Ron

Note from the Editor re Images and Events
A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is preferred.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
Thank you, Ian Ballantine
