Message from our President

Cilantro restaurants Hospitality students really starred at our dinner meeting last Wednesday, the front of house students were attentive and pleasant and the meal prepared by the trainee chef’s could not be faulted, well done to you all.  I am sure our speaker, Tim from Beachside Gift, his wife Lisa, daughter Madeline and our many guests certainly seemed to enjoy the evening. We look forward to our next monthly dinner meeting with more delicious food and wonderful service.
Our breakfast meeting this week will be a Cordon Bleu Buffet, another culinary delight to enjoy.
On the Rotary calendar March is Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Month.
A Project example is the ‘Care for Africa’ in Tanzania, supported by the Rotary Club of South Launceston, provides water wells, a mobile health clinic, health care professionals, scholarships for students, teacher training and education resources.
Other projects address contaminated water worldwide, sink bores in Timor Leste, build toilet blocks in Indonesia, provide water distribution within Philippines and provide sanitary facilities in India.
March 22nd is World Water Day and if you have an idea on how the Club can be involved, speak up.

The meeting this Wednesday and next week will be Fellowship meetings. We don’t normally have two Fellowship meetings consecutively however as many members will be at the District Conference in Canberra it was decided not to have guest speakers.
Wednesday March 1st you will all have an opportunity to bring up an idea for discussion, International Chairperson, Faye will bring us up to date on the projects the club has contributed too, plus DGE Ian will be speaking about his Changeover night.
Next week, March 8th we will be having a Trivia contest, remember it is International Woman’s Day. Greg O’Shea will lead you all in a lively contest, so come prepared.
On a personal note Warren and I spent 4 days on the Bass Strait islands, Flinders & King, a wonderful few days break with amazing food, and scenery, a fantastic place to visit except for the March flies.

Yours in Rotary,
Glenda

Market Report:
A pleasant day for a market. A little overcast in the morning and then some nice sunny weather in the afternoon. A few no shows this morning and the overnight Parker’s took some time to rearrange in the morning. (Harry Styles Concert night before). Great to have Linda and Dave
back from SA playing. They created a great atmosphere.
