Message from our President - Tim's Tattles .
Last Wednesday we had the vote on the option to use Equity Trustees to manage the BMC house account.
Standing back and looking at it there was a great deal to be impressed with for democracy in action. A lot of work was done by Linda O'Brien, Karin Soster and Ron Brownlees in handling the submission who should be commended for their hard work.
Geoff Gartly brought up some very relevant questions which I hadn't thought about. Thanks Geoff for your input.
In all the time I have been with the club I can think of no other time when such a critical and important vote was made. I congratulate the club again for their participation and vote in this matter.
Next Thursday is an evening meeting . There will be no meeting on Wednesday morning.
The members who visited Fiji will talk to us about their experiences over there. Paul Fergusun went as an Interplast delegate . This will be very interesting. Only 4% of surgical operations are conducted in poorer countries. There is a great need here.

REGISTRATION FOR MEETINGS All meetings will now utilise the Registration facility. asking members to register their attendance, or non-attendance, at Club meetings. Note that it is equally important that guests are registered as well.
Members can either register as soon as the event appears in the calendar or respond to the invitation(s) via email to members in the week prior to the meeting. This email will contain a direct link to the event registration page. Here, we ask that you either accept or decline the invitation. You will also have the opportunity to add any guests. Once registered for the event, you will no longer receive an email for that event.
If you choose not to register either your intention to attend or not, it will be assumed you are not attending.

Larry chaired today's club meeting at Cilantro. Charles joined the meeting via Zoom, and Gary joined in as a guest.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- President Tim commented on his very sporty teal coloured tie, and its origins. He plans to attend the Kingston Community Awards event today and mentions our club has been nominated for an award. (Edf-Story here) He will let us know how we faired next week.
- Terry Kane displayed two Certificates of Appreciation our club received from our sister club - R.C. of South Davao for our club's donations for free cataract operations in December 2023, and December 2024 for people in need in the Philippines.
- A reminder to everyone that next week's club meeting is an evening meeting at Cilantro on Thursday 29/5. All members need to register their attendance.
- John Mason displayed a scarf he received from Celestina (Tina) Daez, the ROMAC recipient from Timor Leste that he and Margaret hosted whilst recuperating from her surgeries in 2015. Tina is now a young lady, studying English at university with plans to become a teacher. It is not often that we get to see the results of where our Rotary programs have had an impact - and it is always very satisfying when we do. John's ongoing connection with Tina is one of them - how lucky we are.
- Sue Loeliger , and a few others, were sporting the colour orange in recognition of Victoria Emergency Services Week and the volunteers who donate their time to service the community in times of need.

Editor - President Tim Lynch along with members Ron Brownlees and Linda O'Brien attended thew Kingston Community Awards evening held at the Kingston (old) Town Hall on Wednesday May 21, 2025. Here is President Tim's report:
The nomination (for "Kingston Community Award Bentleigh Moorabbin Central" - Ed) was put by our own Ron Brownlees. Thanks Ron.
It was a bit of a process to get to the award ceremony
There were about 200 people at the function.
There were 8 groups nominated for community awards but only one could win and it was the group" its OKay to not be okay".
Its great to achieve some acknowledgment for the work that we do and whilst I received the award really it was all due to the hardworking members of the club. Congratulations and thank you for the good work you do.
It is a privilege to lead you.

Ron Brownlees chaired today's club meeting at Cilantro. Guests Kerrie and Gary joined the meeting, with Charles joining in a little later via Zoom. Unfortunately, our planned guest speaker from Emerge was unable to attend, however, this provided a great opportunity for PDG Ian Ballantine to demonstrate how to use My Rotary - a training session for new members and a refresher for our existing club members in one!
I had the pleasure of leading the team at the Bentleigh Market on Sunday, May 18, 2025 and I thought I would post a few pics.
The team was myself, Kirsten Oakley and Dee Mason. A very special thanks to Larry Green who volunteered to come along for the first few busy hours. Note that the pic including Larry shows him in "civvies". This is because I left it to the time he was on his way to take the photograph. I can assure you he was in Rotary hi viz all morning.
Assisting us from Moorabin were Vivien Chetty and Andrew Kenny. At the end of the morning Jen and Nick from Holland arrived to help pack up.
A very special appearance was made by John and Margaret Mason. Very wisely, they timed their visit to the sunniest time of the morning.
For those members who aren't aware, Dee is John's daughter.
Also in attendance were Dee's dog and John and Margaret's dog.

Club members Linda O'Brien and Ian Ballantine attended the RC Springvale City Polio fundraising event at the SAIGON REX Restaurant . (We also took along PDG Bob Richards of the Sandringham RC.)
The event was attended by DG Colin Byron and Leanne along with many local dignitaries. The Club is to be commended for the degree to which it has connected to their local community.
This night never disappoints! Always a night of colour, noise and generosity towards End Polio.
Funds raised on the evening brings the Club's efforts over the years to in excess of $100,000.
The RC of Springvale should be commended for their great effort under the leadership of joint Presidents Angelina Colombino and Cathy Jackson. Not bad for a Club of only 20 membrs!
A number of Paul Harris Fellows were awarded on the evening.

Vice President Linda O'Brien stepped in for President Tim Lynch who was absent - get well soon Tim.
Club members Helen Nodrum and Glenda Stahel attended the Interact club at McKinnnon Secondary on Monday this week 28th April, 2025.
The interact club at McKinnon Secondary College was first formed in 2017, through the efforts of the then chair of Youth Services, Mr. Peter Guttman.
Over the years at odd intervals our club as the sponsor club have endeavoured to support the interact activities, but it did become “ad hoc”.
The purpose of this meeting was to reinvigorate and reestablish a working connection between the Interact club and Rotary club of Bentleigh Moorabbin Central.
This week saw our club return to Cilantro for our morning club meetings - hooray. How lucky are we to have such a wonderful venue for our weekly meetings. Sue L was our chairperson for today's meeting and we were joined by guests Jules Gaddes and Gary Ramage. Charles joined the meeting via Zoom including 'our team' in Fiji - Ian Ballantine, Helen Parker, Jo Impey, Paul Ferguson, Linda O'Brien, and Peter O'Brien.
Today's meeting was reserved for club matters and provided an opportunity for club members to be brought up to date with current activities within our club.

Note from the Editor re Images and Events
A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is far superior.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.

I had the pleasure of leading the team at the Bentleigh Market on Sunday, May 18, 2025 and I thought I would post a few pics.
For the information of Club members, we have recently installed in the Bentleigh Market office, a Defibrillator.
