Message from our President
“Serve to Change Lives”
Well, here we are at that magical 80% double vaccinated milestone. Time to retire the track pants, come out of our caves and be ready to socialize face to face.
The beginnings are our market which starts up this coming Sunday, 7th November. Lots of work has occurred in the background by Ron B and supported by Grant P and Larry G to be covid ready, which we are.
Peter O’Brien has been assisting with some market site repairs following vandalism to our signs. Also, you will notice an uptake in Facebook posts per Geoff Gartly – sincere thanks to these gentlemen.
Confirming that we are meeting face to face as of Wednesday 10th November, 7 am for the usual 7.10 am start at Royal Brighton Yacht Club in the function room upstairs. The area will allow for all members to attend plus any guests you may care to invite.
All details will be placed on our website. ( Go here. Ed) Note that in order to attend, members and guests are to be double vaccinated.
Thanks to everyone for participating in last week's membership forum meeting. The comments and points raised provide us a pathway to reset the club back to activity as we emerge from lockdowns.
One of the critical areas I perceive is the need for project opportunities for all members to be involved in, other than market duty rosters.
As we did last year, we will be putting together 100 Christmas hampers filled with treats and staples for families in need. Margaret M and Linda OB have been shopping this week, thank you, ladies.
Members are invited to contact Margaret Mason if you are interested in helping put the hampers together or delivering to our charity partners.
Moorabbin Policing Unit has invited us to participate/assist with their SafePL8 day, which is set for Saturday 20th November 10 am to 1 pm, at the rear of Glen Eira Town Hall.
We are asking for 4-5 members on the day. This is a community event and provides our club a great opportunity to be seen to be active out and about in the community.
Please let me know if you are prepared to be involved. (Click here Ed)

Rotary’s goal of ridding the world of polio is within reach, global health experts said during the 2021 World Polio Day Online Global Update on 24 October. The 30-minute program, “Delivering on our Promise of a Polio-Free World,” provided encouraging information about the progress and remaining challenges in the fight to end polio.

“There’s something about the whole idea of eradicating polio that grabs the imagination,” says Aidan O’Leary. “Most people talk about making steps toward achievements, and it’s almost always into the never-never. Eradication is a zero-sum game; anything short of zero is failure. You keep getting closer and closer, but ultimately the only number that actually matters is zero.”
