Message from our President
“Serve to Change Lives”
“Out and about”
I had the pleasure of dropping into St. Kilda Mum’s unannounced on Thursday last where I was warmly greeted and invited in. Each year donations made on a nominated day in June are tripled through the corporate sponsors of this organization, hence our $2,000.00 donation increased to $6,000.00. Ruth Holdaway CEO is seen here in this picture with yours truly.
Thanks to the community team for this strategic donation and getting the best “bang” for our buck. The team at St. Kilda Mum’s where absolutely delighted and could not express their thanks and appreciation enough, asking me to make sure the members of our club understood the deep gratitude for our support.
I had the pleasure as well to attend the finals of the Bayspeak competition, held at St. Leonards Secondary College on Wednesday evening last. This is a public speaking competition run by Rotary clubs, mainly in district 9800, but good for our club to support and be involved. Julie Reid has reported on this and this report can be found on our website. Acknowledgement goes to club members Glenda Stahel, Margaret Lucas, Tim Lynch and Ian Ballantine who attended on the night. In his usual style Ian’s photography of the nights event made up for any words I can add, the pics are up on our website and district 9800 members were very glad of his professional pictures made available to them. Album here.
As I trust will now become custom, it was lovely to have Kellie Carruthers from Marriott Support Services join us at last Wednesday’s breakfast for the cheque presentation of our sponsorship for the OmniReflex Mobile Portable Interactive projector and software. We are liaising with Marriott Support Services to have an off-site meeting at their Cheltenham site hopefully on 6th July, but yet to be confirmed.
Between now and end of this calendar year we plan a few off-site meetings so that members get to visit our partnerships.
Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly (RYLA) is on 27th June to 2nd July. Clubs are invited to attend on Wednesday 29th July as this is the Interactive program day. 1015am for a 1045am start. Rawson Village Camp, Pinnacle Drive, Rawson. There is a $28 cost for lunch. Given our RYLA candidate Claire O’Brien has been active in our club meetings and activity this is a great opportunity to experience a vibrant Rotary program. Margaret Lucas and myself will be attending and I warmly encourage others to consider attending. There is room for two more in my car if you wish.
Glen Eira Multi Deck Carpark project is once again in the spotlight with the second stage of community consultation now open up to 3rd July. The conceptual designs have been completed and Council wants to start the project feasibility phase and involve community consultation. I am asking every member of our club to be involved here.

Looking forward to our change over dinner this coming Saturday evening at “The Sanctum”, St. Kilda Football club, gather 6.30pm for 7pm start. This dinner is the highlight of our year and not to be missed. Thanks to Margaret Mason for the organising and myriad of jobs required for this event.
Thanks everyone
With every best wishes
President Helen Nodrum
Rotarians are invited to Inner Wheels Change Over on 6th July at Woodlands Golf Club
Details on the invitation All welcome and I'm sure a good time will be had by all
The 2022 convention in Houston, Texas, USA, offered plenty of inspiring moments as Rotary's global network gathered in person for the first time since 2019, following two conventions that were held virtually because of COVID-19. The convention offered participants new horizons to discover through in-person events and a robust schedule of virtual offerings (with recordings available through 31 August).
After discovering new perspectives and being inspired by new ideas at the 2022 Rotary International Convention, attendees and virtual participants are looking ahead to next year's gathering in Melbourne, the sparkling second city of Australia.

Tim L was our chairperson for today’s club meeting at Cilantro. After performing Acknowledgement to Country, he called upon Glenda for invocation and Larry for the loyal toast. Tim welcomed guests Anna Mouradian, our frequent club visitor, and Kelly Crothers from Marriott Support Services. Charles R and Karin joined the meeting via Zoom. How lucky we are to have Zoom to keep members connected if unable to attend meetings in person. This morning’s meeting was devoted to fellowship since our guest speaker was unable to attend.
Each year our club donates to Australian Rotary Health, $5,000. This donation is directed to providing funding for indigenous students. This year’s recipient of our donation is Isobella Kruger. Isobella is currently studying medicine at Monash University and is at the fourth year level.
Neville was the chairperson for today’s club meeting at Cilantro and performed the Acknowledgement of Country. Glenda performed the invocation and Faye performed the loyal toast. Tony, Charles and Clare O’Brien, our club RYLA recipient, joined the meeting via Zoom. International Club Toast – Grant Perry

Market report: a slow start in the cold and drizzle - only 30 people had visited the market. Only 1 rack sold for the day😑 . The combination of forecast rain and the long weekend meant the market performed as expected. otsa time for fellowship.
