Message from our President - Ron's Ramblings

It was great to hear and see Glenda’s presentation on her  to Thailand and the Philippines, particularly her visit to the hospital to view where our donation to the Cataract Removal Program was taking place. It was also interesting to hear her view of the customs and how she and Warren were treated to some cultural delights by our friends Arthur and Kathy.
Due to the closure of Cilantro during the school holidays in April we are investigating another local venue for breakfast during the break. As many members will already be away or leaving next day for the conference in March we may consider cancelling the meeting on March 20th. We will keep you informed. The months of March and April are very challenging and the Social Committee are working to try and provide an appropriate function at a suitable time and venue.
The club members on the Conference committee have been busy compiling rosters for the many tasks a host club has to fulfill, and believe me when I say there has been a power of work done behind the scenes by Linda, Glenda, Grant, and Peter O’B.
District Governor Ian has advised us that the District Changeover will be on June 29th, so it is possible that our own Changeover, previously booked for 29th, will now be on June 22nd. Tim Lynch will advise us once venue and date has been decided.
This week we will possibly have a couple of ‘new’ guests, so please take the opportunity to introduce yourselves.
Yours in Rotary  ‘Create Hope in The World.’
President Ron

Social afternoon at the O'Briens
Once again members Linda and Peter O'Brien generously opened their home to host a wonderful afternoon.
Whilst it got a little warm, we all survived under the shade of the trees in the lovely garden.
There were well over 30 present including a few friends of Rotary.
Our thanks to Linda and Peter - a great afternoon of fellowship.

Note from the Editor re Images and Events
A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is preferred.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
Thank you, Ian Ballantine
