As Cilantro was shut last week because of the Melbourne Cup, we held our Wednesday meeting at Feast Cafe in Hampton. About twelve members attended for a very informal breakfast meeting.
Last Friday’s drinks were also at Feast in Hampton, the same crew was there as the week before , that is myself, Peter, Linda , Jo, Ian, Helen Parker; there were also a couple of non-Rotarians as well. It looks like Feast will be the regular meeting place from about 0530pm onwards for about an hour or two. Why not come along for a bit of fellowship
For those who live in the City of Kingston there is an ‘Aged Care’ Information Session conducted by Access Care. It is this Thursday from 1130 to 1230 at 34 Brindisi Street, Mentone – Bookings are essential. (Ed - Click on image at right for details)
This week’s meeting is an evening meeting. This will be a three course meal prepared by the Cordon Bleu students. Our speaker is Daryl Moran talking about the Australian Air Force. Daryl is an entertaining speaker who also spoke earlier this year about Australians in WW2 and the air war in Burma. (Ed - details and booking HERE)

Annual General Meeting
NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR ELECTION AS DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS
The Annual General Meeting of the Rotary Club of Bentleigh Moorabbin Central Inc. Will be held on Wednesday 26th November 2025 at a Cilantro.
Business includes Presentation of accounts for the Club and Market, Statutory matters for the Incorporated Association, and the Election of Directors and Officers for the Rotary year 2026-2027
The formal Agenda will be issued later.
Accordingly, members are invited to nominate other members to one of the positions on the Board of Directors that need to be filled for the year 2026-27 as well as Auditor for the same year.
The Board positions falling vacant at June 30, 2026 are:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
President Elect (would immediately assume role of President Nominee)
Two Other Directors for a period of 2 years: 2026 - 2028
For information, the remaining three positions on the Board do not require election:
Past President - current President, Grant Perry
Two Directors - Kellie Carruthers and Larry Green commenced their tenure on July 1 2025, and will remain on the board to June 30, 2027.
All club members are eligible for nomination. Accordingly, members will be invited to either nominate themselves or another member (with the club member's consent) for any of the positions that fall vacant, and forward their nomination to the nominating committee (to be announced)

Market Report: Rained early. Cool but still. Heavy sun shower at 8.20am. Further showers of little consequence. Wind picked up.
Very quiet at start. Even though 46 e-tickets sold, a number of casuals did not come. Very quiet market.

The traditional model of Rotary, with weekly meetings at a local venue, may not suit the lifestyle of many, especially people developing their careers or caring for young children. But that doesn’t mean they miss out on the joy of Rotary!
IN 2019, a group of committed young Rotary alumni decided it was time to explore a new model of Rotary. It would focus less on meetings and more on connecting people, ideas, passion and skills to create the change they want to see in the world.
The club’s unique structure adds value in this changing world, allowing those with varying work or study schedules or locations, carer responsibilities, mobility or transport issues access to Rotary.
A group of approximately 18 club members enjoyed a lovely breakfast and fellowship at Feast on Wed 5/11. Feast is a lovely intimate venue in Hampton for small groups, and with Aila Cafe having closed, is a perfect alternative venue for times when Cilantro is not available. Grant reminded board members of the upcoming board meeting on Tuesday 11/11. Grant's sister, Clare, will display African Violets at the Mt Waverley Community Centre on Saturday 16/11. IMPORTANT - Club meeting date change - the morning meeting scheduled for Wed 19/11 at Cilantro has changed to Tuesday 18/11 instead - same time 7am for 7.10am Gabriela advises of a ball on 2/12 - more details to follow. Rosters for the market and next club meeting were announced.

I TOOK on the challenge of being president for the Rotary club of Belmont, WA, for 2024-25. When I joined the club six years ago there were 24 members and it gradually dropped to 17. One of my goals as president was to increase membership back to 24. I started with no membership director and no-one wanted the role. I introduced the concept that we are all responsible for membership.
I adopted a six-step plan to achieve my membership goals.

I am very happy to convert your news into a story which will then appear in the Bulletin, but, more importantly, appear on our Website.
This will show any people coming to our Website what our Club is involved in and the projects we support.
So, please take some photographs and put together some words - I will do the rest. Please send me your photos in the highest resolution possible via email or WhatsApp. I will do the cropping etc. Please DO NOT send pics via SMS (MMS). These are next to useless.
Also, don't bother creating the article in Word or similar-just adds work. Just send the words and a few pics. I will do the rest.

A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is far superior.
