Message from our President - Ron's Ramblings

Good afternoon everyone,
Thanks to Linda for stepping in as acting president last week whilst Marilyn and I took a few days R & R down the Bellarine Peninsula. It was shame thought that only 9 members could make it to the meeting, I know we had a few late apologies, but Glenda has done a great job trying to organise a variety of interesting speakers.
This week we will have Anton Hockey and two guests from RYDA who will talk to us about road safety education in schools.
Thanks to those members who completed the questionnaire/comments on the Regionalisation Pilot project, I am just collating my responses for submission this week.
Well done to the market team for their resilience in hanging around on Sunday, it was a dramatic weather change from the previous few days and most people stayed away, hopefully it will hopefully improve in coming weeks.
Our participation in the ‘Big Serve’ Tennis Tournament takes place next Sunday 29th at Beaumaris tennis club, so let’s hope the weather is good.
The 12th November will see Faye and her team conduct their ‘High Tea’ at the Healey. We will need a couple of volunteers to help with the setup of tables and seats on Saturday 11th
This week we will also be voting on support of two projects, the first being a contribution of $5000 to’ Interplast’, and the second a contribution of $5000 to the ‘Blue Ribbon Foundation’, towards provision of an assistance dog for former police officers suffering with PTSD.
Our meeting on November 1st will be an evening dinner at Cilantro and our guest speaker will be Scott Weeks to talk about financial consulting. Do not forget to book.
Yours in Rotary  ‘Create Hope in The World.’
President Ron

Anton Hockey  Program Coordinator Victoria & South Australia Road Safety Education will be speaking about RYDA.

RYDA is a programme created for senior students, it gives students a unique opportunity to set road safety goals and build strategies alongside friends they will most likely be riding with as drivers or passengers.
RYDA features a highly engaging and memorable one-day workshop which front-loads students’ understanding of road safety and gives them the tools, habits and motivation to take action and stay safe on our roads as both drivers and passengers throughout their lives”

Other helpers and visitors: Ron, Grant, Peter O’Brien. Cars in queue: nil. O Night parkers :1
Pedestrian count  157
Market Report: Bad weather was forecast and it was spot on, rain and wind from early morning saw many stallholders pack up and leave early. So even with a very quiet morning the RCBMC raised nearly $1500 that will be of benefit to a worthy recipient.

Note from the Editor re Images and Events
A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is preferred.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
Thank you, Ian Ballantine
