Message from our President - Ron's Ramblings
Well week one is over and done and it certainly has been busy. Talking to prospective new members, investigating meeting venues, completing club goals for My Rotary, and thinking of Ian as he not only had to deal with his first week but had to try and restore our Club website that went on a holiday. I am sure all who attended our Changeover and the District Changeover had a great time. Well done and thank you Linda for her role. We also wish Ian well in the year ahead as the first District Governor for our Club.
Great to see so many members at ‘The Deck’ for our breakfast last week, interesting exercise working in a new environment. It will be good to be back at Cilantro with Tony and Maria.
Next week we will have Grant Holland as our guest speaker, many have met Grant before when the Holland Foundation was the beneficiary of support from our club as a result of market fundraising.
If any members come across someone they believe would be an interesting guest speaker please let Glenda or myself know. Glenda will be leaving Melbourne this week to return to the warmer north, but just as she has been over the last 6 months, she will still be a very active club member.
As I said at our last meeting we need to keep membership to front of our thoughts at all times. Help Larry, Geoff G, Kellie, Glenda and Roy, make your club better.

Today’s club meeting heralded President Ron Brownlees first club meeting as President for this current Rotary year – held at The Deck in Bay Street Brighton. With our club website down and not knowing who was rostered, President Ron was also Chairperson for today’s meeting. Serge returned as a guest, and Charles joined the meeting via Zoom.
PHF – IAN BALLANTINE
President Ron presented D.G. Ian with a PHF lapel ruby pin and a Centurion Certificate in recognition of donations made by Ian to The Rotary Foundation.
Marg Lucas was our chairperson at today’s club meeting at Cilantro, and marks the last club meeting for the Rotary year. Grant performed Invocation and Faye conducted the loyal toast. Sue and Charles joined the meeting via Zoom. Guests included Trinh, Serge, Barry Oliver, Sharon Haig – Director of Nursing at Sandringham Hospital, Malcolm Chiverton – District 9810 Membership Chair, and partners Ken Oakes, Marilyn Brownlees and Warren Stahel.
On Wednesday evening, June 7 Warren and I together with Ian Ballantine, Margaret Lucas and Helen Nodrum attended the final of the Bayspeak competition. There were twelve participants with a winner in the Junior section and a winner in the Senior section. All participants spoke for a maximum of 6 minutes, with adjudicators from Bayside Toast masters. Another evening listening to impressive young people from different schools presenting on a topic of their choice. The winner of the senior section was from Brighton Secondary College and from the junior section, Shelford Girls School.

Note from the Editor re Images and Events
A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is preferred.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
