Message from our President
“Serve to Change Lives”
RECONCILIATION WEEK.
This week is noted as Reconciliation Week in the calendar. Regardless of an individual’s opinion the history of the aboriginal “Stolen Generation” was wrong.
Today’s governments have recognised this and all are now asked to be part of the healing process and to move our culture forward as inclusive and diverse.
In the May edition of Rotary Downunder, Jessie Harman, has written very eloquently on this topic in her usual measured way. To take from Jessie’s text,
Rotarians are people of action. Rotary itself has adopted the statement that welcomes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, these are written as our core values,
Our four-way test speaks to truth, fairness, goodwill and benefit to all.
As Rotarians we must commit to working towards a more respectful, equitable and equal future.
On this Wednesday, 1st June, our club members have been invited to tour the Danny Frawley Centre at St. Kilda Football club.
We will meet in the St Kilda Football Club reception at 9am. Elise Facer-Childs who spoke at our club a few weeks ago will give us a tour of the facility
and explain the many facets of the centre. The purpose of this visit along with having a tour of the centre is to determine the opportunity of forming a
partnership with Danny Frawley Centre and our club.
Final arrangements for our change over dinner are now taking place, I ask that any member planning on coming who has not paid for the evening to please
do so as soon as possible.
On the week of the change over dinner (Saturday night) there will be NO Rotary meeting on the Wednesday beforehand i.e. 15th June.
Change over dinner will take the place of that week’s meeting.
Thanks everyone
With every best wishes
President Helen Nodrum

Rotary members in Ukraine are helping neighbors return to their homes, distributing supplies from other countries, and organizing long-term aid — all despite being affected by the war themselves.
On Friday, DG Daryl Moran called together all Presidents, Assistant Governors (2021-22 and 2022-23) and other members of the district Leadership to the last meeting for his year.
It was very well attended and took place, in-person and on Zoom, at the Mulgrave Country Club.
