Monday, 16th June 2025

Message from our President - Tim's Tattles .

Last week we heard Berts man behind the badge . I was wondering if I would ever hear it . It was his 5Th  attempt but it was worth waiting for . He had a strong connection through his antecedents with Napoleon who rewarded his great Uncle with a Barony and in Australia a connection with Matthew Flinders who circumnavigated Australia. Strangely Matthew Flinders  was  imprisoned by the French for 6 years.
This wednesday we are recognising some of the good works that have been achieved during the year for exemplary efforts. Be there .
The changeover is rapidly coming 28 th of June to be held at Sandringham football club . You should all have your invitations  . Linda has told me that there are tickets still available so if you know anyone that may want to come please let them or us know
I will have the opportunity to give my valette speech. I will revert from Rooster to feather duster. I must say I am looking forward to it.
Yours in Rotary  ‘The Magic of Rotary’

President Tim Lynch

Bert visits Shellharbour
During the month of May, one of our newer members was travelling in the northern rivers region of New South Wales and found himself visiting a local Rotray Club.
Here is his report and a few pics.

I contacted Larry from the local club in Shell Harbour  and let him know that I was in Shell Harbour and am a  member from Melbourne Rotary Club and would like to meet their team of which he then invited me to their meeting at their venue Warila Bowls & Recreation  Club where after intro to team presented them with our  Banner , after meeting we all got together for dinner.

I was chatting to one of their members at dinner to Ray , Larry. And Peter and was  invited to assist in sausage sandwiches at Council chambers in the morning where kids and family were invited from the community – per pics and we make a lot and it went well.

Club Meeting May 21 2025
Larry chaired today's club meeting at Cilantro.    Charles joined the meeting via Zoom, and Gary joined in as a guest.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- President Tim commented on his very sporty teal coloured tie, and its origins.  He plans to attend the Kingston Community Awards event today and mentions our club has been nominated for an award. (Edf-Story here) He will let us know how we faired next week.
- Terry Kane displayed two Certificates of Appreciation our club received from our sister club - R.C. of South Davao for our club's donations for free cataract operations in December 2023, and December 2024 for people in need in the Philippines.
- A reminder to everyone that next week's club meeting is an evening meeting at Cilantro on Thursday 29/5.  All members need to register their attendance.
- John Mason displayed a scarf he received from Celestina (Tina) Daez, the ROMAC recipient from Timor Leste that he and Margaret hosted whilst recuperating from her surgeries in 2015.  Tina is now a young lady, studying English at university with plans to become a teacher.  It is not often that we get to see the results of where our Rotary programs have had an impact - and it is always very satisfying when we do.  John's ongoing connection with Tina is one of them - how lucky we are.
- Sue Loeliger , and a few others, were sporting the colour orange in recognition of Victoria Emergency Services Week and the volunteers who donate their time to service the community in times of need.
Ed - Members can view the result of the Equity Trustees ballot here.
ROSTERS - for Sunday's market and next week's club meeting were announced.

Note from the Editor re Images and Events
A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is far superior.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
Thank you, Ian Ballantine
