We were supposed to have two speakers last week; Nick Staikos, the State member for Bentleigh and Leonie Beckett from the Bentleigh Traders Association. They were to talk about the Bentleigh Business Precinct, unfortunately Leonie was not able to attend, however Nick was able to be at the meeting. Nick didn’t speak about the aforementioned topic, but gave us a brief glimpse of his life in politics, his current portfolios and his relationship and memories of the market.
Last Friday’s drinkies was held at Feast Wine Bar in Hampton. Apart from myself there was Peter, Linda , Jo, Ian, Helen Parker and Helen’s dog Billie. Billie has Ian well trained as Billie only had to look at Ian to be given another treat. We were seated outside on the street where we watched the world go by, which mostly seemed to be hundreds of dogs taking their owners for a walk.
This week’s speaker is the Mayor of Glen Eira, Cr Simone Zmood , who will gives an update on the City of Glen Eira.

Annual General Meeting
NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR ELECTION AS DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS
The Annual General Meeting of the Rotary Club of Bentleigh Moorabbin Central Inc. Will be held on Wednesday 26th November 2025 at a Cilantro.
Business includes Presentation of accounts for the Club and Market, Statutory matters for the Incorporated Association, and the Election of Directors and Officers for the Rotary year 2026-2027
The formal Agenda will be issued later.
Accordingly, members are invited to nominate other members to one of the positions on the Board of Directors that need to be filled for the year 2026-27 as well as Auditor for the same year.
The Board positions falling vacant at June 30, 2026 are:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
President Elect (would immediately assume role of President Nominee)
Two Other Directors for a period of 2 years: 2026 - 2028
For information, the remaining three positions on the Board do not require election:
Past President - current President, Grant Perry
Two Directors - Kellie Carruthers and Larry Green commenced their tenure on July 1 2025, and will remain on the board to June 30, 2027.
All club members are eligible for nomination. Accordingly, members will be invited to either nominate themselves or another member (with the club member's consent) for any of the positions that fall vacant, and forward their nomination to the nominating committee (to be announced)
A formal Agenda for the Annual General Meeting will follow.

Market Report: 75% chance of rain. Light to medium shower at 11am reduced numbers at the market and most packed up around this time due to dwindling customers at this time
A quite start with expected showers impacting numbers. Some stall holders popped in and said they were worried about expected rain. Rain hit just before 11am.

Rotary has always been a powerful and well-respected force, delivering volunteer-driven service. But today, in Zone 8, it faces a stark choice: evolve or risk on becoming irrelevant. The heart of Rotary is its volunteers, but unless we change how we engage, support and grow that spirit, we are at risk of losing the very lifeblood of our organisation.
Members Jo Impey, Linda and Peter O'Brien, Tim and Angela Lynch and Ian Ballantine and Helen Parker met up for a few drinks and a chat at Feast in Hampton Street last Friday evening.
It was agreed by all that the venue was excellent and other members are encouraged to join us next time. Keep and eye on the Club Calendar.
With a US$2 million Rotary Programs of Scale award, a project makes high-quality care available to pregnant women, mothers, and newborns in Nigeria

In early 2024, a Rotary magazine writer traveled to Africa to report on a major initiative aimed at reducing that country’s high maternal death rate. Together for Healthy Families in Nigeria received a $2 million Rotary Programs of Scale grant to increase the availability of high-quality maternal health services and promote their use. The program was implemented in three Nigerian states and the Federal Capital Territory with the hope that it could be expanded in the future.
For more than two decades, Rotary has embraced innovative club models – from e-clubs to hub-and-spoke mergers – to adapt to members’ needs and expand its capacity for service.
For more than 20 years, Rotary has been promoting different club models to encourage clubs to adapt to how members prefer to meet and how prospective members prefer to volunteer. The e-club model was initiated in 2000 and the first club, Rotary eClub One in District 5450, chartered in 2002. The e-club pilot was launched to explore how the internet could be used to retain existing members and attract new ones.

I am very happy to convert your news into a story which will then appear in the Bulletin, but, more importantly, appear on our Website.
This will show any people coming to our Website what our Club is involved in and the projects we support.
So, please take some photographs and put together some words - I will do the rest. Please send me your photos in the highest resolution possible via email or WhatsApp. I will do the cropping etc. Please DO NOT send pics via SMS (MMS). These are next to useless.
Also, don't bother creating the article in Word or similar-just adds work. Just send the words and a few pics. I will do the rest.

A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is far superior.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
