Message from our President

“Serve to Change Lives”

PARTNERSHIPS:
The first part of a poem by John Dunne goes like this:
“No man is an island,
Every Man is a piece of the continent,
 A part of the main”.
I reckon this verse embodies the value and need for partnerships.
As we come into the month of June, I am starting to reflect on the last twelve months.
For me seeing the club accept the challenge of establishing meaningful partnerships has been a highlight. We are now actively working not just writing cheques for donation.
In the last couple of weeks members have been out and about and I thank each and every one who has managed to be involved in our club visits.
Although a cold wintery Melbourne day last Tuesday’s visit to South Caulfield Community Garden was an immense success. Members toured the area, we enjoyed morning tea and meeting with those volunteers who regularly attend the garden section. As a club we are proud to be sponsoring their nature strip gardens and the establishment of a course in sustainable gardening which the centre will be running. Photos here.
The following day we attended St. Kilda Football Club and toured “The Danny Frawley Centre”. Thanks go to Elise Facer-Childs and Ellie for providing us a very comprehensive and informative tour of both facilities. There is ground breaking work occurring within the Danny Frawley Centre, especially in the area of Applied Research, where findings are put to practice immediately. I look forward to further dialogue in this space in an effort to see if there is a fit for our club and DFC.
Marriott Support Services will be attending our club breakfast this week for their presentation. RCBMC has had in the past I understand a valued partnership with Marriott house and it is pleasing to see us once again bringing this important organisation into our club activities.
Glen Eira Multi Deck Carpark project is once again in the spotlight with the second stage of community consultation now open up to 3rd July. The conceptual designs have been completed and Council wants to start the project feasibility phase and involve community consultation. I am asking every member of our club to be involved here.
To update go to www.haveyoursaygleneira.com.au/glen-eira-multideck-car-parks.
Our scheduled speaker this week has had to postpone and re-schedule to a later date, so we will be having a long overdue fellowship breakfast meeting, with lots of updates on club activities. This will also be an opportunity to revisit club runner and the programs attached to our website.
Thanks everyone
With every best wishes
President Helen Nodrum
