Message from our President
From the Desk of President Margaret
Good evening all. The monthly District Newsletter for October is out and it is interesting to read about what other clubs in the district are doing.
There is a lot of emphasis in the newsletter on the District Conference in Canberra in March next year. The early bird registration discount ends on 30 November. Remember that for every member who registers for the conference, the club gets 400 incentive reward points which goes to our overall aim of getting at least 7000 points to earn each member a Rotary Polo shirt. If we achieve 10000 points, each member will receive a Rotary hoodie.
Two other news items of interest are that 97.67% of clubs in zone 8 voted in favour of the Regionalisation pilot project, so this will go ahead. We await further information about this in the forthcoming months.
The other item is news is that Colin Byron has been confirmed as DG Nominee. He will therefore be the first DG when districts 9810 and 9820 merge at the beginning of 2024 to become District 29815.
District Newsletter can be viewed here.
Rotary International had revised its monthly themes for this Rotary year to align with the areas of focus of Rotary Foundation.. The monthly themes for the remainder of this Rotary year are as follows:
November 2022 The Rotary Foundation
December 2022 Disease Prevention and Treatment
January 2023 Vocational Service
February 2023 Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution
March 2023 Water Sanitation
April 2023 Maternal and Child Health
May 2023 Youth Service
June 2023 Rotary Fellowship.
Hopefully the programme committee, which is in the capable hands of Geoff Gledhill and Paul Ferguson, will be able to source speakers to address those themes in the second half of this Rotary year. However, all members are encouraged to suggest names of speakers to Paul and Geoff to follow up.
Thanks everyone
With every best wishes
President Margaret Mason

Paul Ferguson was today’s chairperson for today’s club meeting at Cilantro. Greg performed invocation and Tony performed the loyal toast. And before there were further proceedings, Paul performed an acknowledgement to country. Jo, Charles and Karin joined via Zoom. Paul welcomed our guest speaker – Maureen Bolar from Story Dogs.
After discovering new perspectives and being inspired by new ideas at the 2022 Rotary International Convention, attendees and virtual participants are looking ahead to next year's gathering in Melbourne, the sparkling second city of Australia.
