Message from our President

From the Desk of President Margaret
The November Board meeting was held on the evening of the 9th November. The main topic of discussion was item 2 under General Business in the minutes, relating to the letter of complaint from Peter Nolan to the Board. Members will recall that this letter which was intended for Board Members, was inadvertently sent to all of you.

Some members of the Board stated that the discussion at the October Board meeting was incorrectly documented in the minutes. Between the circulation of the October board minutes and the Board meeting in November, Peter O’Brien sent an email to all members with an attachment from Linda O’Brien regarding the letter of complaint. A lengthy discussion took place at the Board meeting relating particularly to Board members’ recollections on what if anything was resolved at the previous meeting. Eventually, this matter was settled after two amendments (one from Ron Brownlees and the other from Glenda Stahel) received the majority vote. Linda O’Brien also read a statement which is on record and will be referred to in the Board minutes.

Other items discussed at the board meeting were largely related to donations to various organisations. One item, which will require members’ approval, was for the sum of $5,000 to be donated to Interplast to enable two medical professionals, (doctors or nurses), from the Pacific islands to go to Fiji to attend a course on the management of severely burned patients.

Moving on from the board meeting, please be reminded that the meeting on 30th November will be an evening meeting where an eminent speaker, John Le Marshall, will be presenting. John is a meteorologist but has been heavily involved in space projects at NASA. It is a fellowship evening and members, friends and partners are encouraged to attend. Cilantro restaurant will be closed for renovations in December. Fortunately, the club meeting for 7th December has been arranged to take place at Flight Deck at Moorabbin airport. After that meeting, members who are interested can take a tour of the Moorabbin Air Museum.

The venue for the last meeting in 2022 on 14th December is yet to be determined. Hopefully, I will be able to provide more information at our next meeting on 16 November.

Have a nice day.

President Margaret Mason

Market Report: The day started well with many casual bookings being filled. There was 1 car in the queue and 1 additional stall sold. The morning was sunny and pleasant for the stall holders and the customers. There were some no shows. After heavy rain overnight some regulars were deterred from attending. The vibe from the stallholders was positive. Pedro arrived to entertain our customers. Thanks to Linda O’Shea for volunteering her time to do face painting for the children. Later in the morning an elderly gentleman fell and Vishal administered minor treatment, called a family member and called for an ambulance. Our medical emergency procedure was enacted. An incident report was completed. An ambulance came to attend to the gentleman at 12.10pm.
