As one of the social activities of our club for this year the Fellowship committee will be organising casual end of the week catch-ups at various local venues. The first of these was last Friday night at Gilbert’s Wine Bar in Centre Road. It was a small group that met for about an hour.
Last week we inducted Nicky Chung into our club, Nicky has transferred from the Rotary Club of Wonthaggi. Please make her feel welcome.
Cilantro is closed for the next two weeks because of school holidays, so we will be meeting elsewhere. As we try to have one evening meeting a month this Wednesday will be that meeting. It will be fellowship meeting, at Cheltenham RSL (Register HERE).
The following week’s will be very different. This will also be an evening meeting at the Moorabbin Air Museum with a casual meal, possibly a BBQ and a tour of the museum, (Register HERE). This is a good event for the whole family.

Market Report: The weather was dry and cloudy and cool. Windy conditions for the market.
Market started very quiet and there were a number of no show stalls. A few new stallholders today as casuals who were happy with the set up. The numbers of customers increased as the morning went on.
Important message to Market Leaders: New Computer
The iPad is NO LONGER. Entry of Market Report and Try Booking access is now done via new computer in the office. Refer picture at left. The procedure for its use is in the office.

Ian Ballantine presented an International Toast featuring the Rotary Club of Kharkiv International. This club has a membership of about 22 and is located in a region near the eastern border with Russia. Thus, it appears that its projects have a focus on the support of the local population and its involvement in the conflict. Projects include procurement of ambulances, clothes and and support for children who are victims of the conflict. The club gets considerable support through its relationships with overseas Rotary clubs in places like Scotland, England and Brazil.
Linda then got us all up and enjoying ourselves in a quiz game of Heads and Tails. - won by Larry Green.
Members will recall that prior to International Convention this year the RI President Elect (President 2026-27), SangKoo Yun withdew from the role for health and personal reasons. Story HERE.
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Rotary International President-elect SangKoo Yun.
A dedicated Rotarian, visionary leader and compassionate advocate, SangKoo inspired many with his commitment to service and peace. His courage in the face of illness and his unwavering love for Rotary will be fondly remembered.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and Rotary colleagues worldwide. May his legacy of Service Above Self continue to guide and inspire us all.
Members Ron Brownlees and Julie Reid attended a students Market Day at McKinnon Secondary College at which the Interact Club, sponsored by our Club had a stall.
Our meeting this week was chaired by Jo Impey and our special guest speaker was Janette Etherington form the RC of Nunawading. Paul Ferguson and Larry Green attended the meeting via Zoom.
Janette attended our Club on behalf of Interplast - she holds the title of Coordinator – Rotary Engagement with Interplast. As most members should already be aware our very own Paul Ferguson serves Interplast as a member of its Board. Members should also be aware that our Club, and its members has been a very generous supporter of Interplast.

Rotaractors with intellectual disabilities learn life skills
Cleo the two-toed sloth, cute enough to break the internet, was blowing Megan Marrero’s mind. She and a small group of fellow Rotaractors were visiting an aquarium in the tourism hub of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and marveling at the slow-moving, upside-down tree-hanging creature. It especially captured Marrero’s imagination.
Olayinka Hakeem Babalola selected to be 2026-27 Rotary International president
Olayinka Hakeem Babalola, a member of the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi, Nigeria, has been selected by the Board of Directors to become Rotary International’s president for 2026-27. His term will begin on 1 July 2026.
The Board, guided by the RI code of policies, conducted a special session to select the organization’s leader after the resignation of RI President-elect SangKoo Yun, who decided to step back from his Rotary responsibilities and focus on his recovery from recent cancer treatment.
As Editor of the Bulletin and responsible for the Club's website I am asking members to please consider sending me any news about events they may have attended on behalf of the Club or any project that is being undertaken by the Club.
I am very happy to convert your news into a story which will then appear in the Bulletin, but, more importantly, appear on our Website.
This will show any people coming to our Website what our Club is involved in and the projects we support.
So, please take some photographs and put together some words - I will do the rest. Please send me your photos in the highest resolution possible via email or WhatsApp. I will do the cropping etc. Please DO NOT send pics via SMS (MMS). These are next to useless.
Also, don't bother creating the article in Word or similar-just adds work. Just send the words and a few pics. I will do the rest.

A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is far superior.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
