Message from our President

We can now look forward to a bit more freedom and an opportunity to get together. The market procedures will stay as they are for the moment but all in all it’s good news.
I have told DG Alma that our club would not be involved in the new district Rotaract and whilst she was disappointed, it is our decision.
There is also the prospect of a cluster project on Australia Day, cleaning up Karkarook Park, more info to follow.
All the best,
Geoff Gledhill
This week's meeting will feature a great film presentation by Mark Huddleston, a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Edwardstown, SA. I can thoroughly recommend watching this video.
Also there is our big social event on this coming Sunday, December 13.
As we need to have an idea of who is coming, Please register on-line. So far just a handful of members have registered themselves and their guests.  All details below or click here.
Also, have a look at the article below on subscribing to our Events Calendar. Have all events update directly to your phone.

Zoom Meeting December 2 2020 Helen Morgan
17 members “zoomed in.”
Apologies from Faye Weeks and Ian Ballantine.
President Geoff spoke on the club’s Bronze recognition from DG Alma for our substantial contribution towards Rotary Foundation over the years. Geoff said that support from members and clubs worldwide is the reason Rotary has been in existence for so long. This is indicative that Rotary is in a position of strength. Geoff is also in the process of applying for a sausage sizzle day at Bunnings but has not received any response to date.

Rotary Foundation Club award
I wanted to share some good news with you in relation to our club having been recognised in the club recognition program as a Bronze level contributor to the Rotary Foundation. You will see from the attachments which include the certificate and a letter from the DG, that we have made a very significant contribution over an extended period, we should feel proud to have played a part in this achievement.
All the best
Geoff

Community Service: Christmas Cheer
There was a change in the project this year. As well as the usual Christmas Cakes and Puddings, Helen suggested that after the torrid year we had been through, that we should prepare 100 hampers of Treats to cheer people up. The hampers are to be given to Holland Foundation, Family Life and Glen Eira Community Information and Support for distribution to their ‘ clients’, as well as a load of Cakes to the Salvation Army. The thinking was that while plenty of people were in need of baked beans and staples, some ‘’treats’ would be appreciated at this time.
