Message from our President

Congratulations to our club on the recent recognition from DG Alma Reynolds of our "Bronze Level" contribution to the Rotary Foundation. We are a consistently supportive club who respect and acknowledge that is the structure of Rotary as an organisation that has contributed to its longevity. (see story here - Ed)

The market rosters are out so please if you need to make changes do so in a timely manner and also based on the advice that Market Manager Ron has provided previously.
I have applied for a time with Bunnings Moorabbin for us to run another sausage sizzle, I'll keep you up to date on tht one. See you all Wednesday NIGHT this week.
All the best,

You will see from the attachments which include the certificate and a letter from the DG, that we have made a very significant contribution over an extended period, we should feel proud to have played a part in this achievement.

Community Service: Christmas Cheer
There was a change in the project this year. As well as the usual Christmas Cakes and Puddings, Helen suggested that after the torrid year we had been through, that we should prepare 100 hampers of Treats to cheer people up. The hampers are to be given to Holland Foundation, Family Life and Glen Eira Community Information and Support for distribution to their ‘ clients’, as well as a load of Cakes to the Salvation Army. The thinking was that while plenty of people were in need of baked beans and staples, some ‘’treats’ would be appreciated at this time.

Market Report Sunday, November 29 2020
Despite very wet and windy for the first hour or two, many stallholders endured and we did alright. Good atmosphere no stress.
Grant made some very nice muffins, and Margaret M. provided some nice hot pikelets for morning tea.
Team consisted Geoff Gledhill, Leader, Paul Ferguson, Tim Moran, Grant Perry, Andrew Kenny, Sue Loeliger, Vivien and Ron B. Visiting Rotarians included John and Margaret Mason and Peter Lewis.
The day started with some rain and squalls. We had three cars parked overnight and none in the queue to start. There were plenty of empty stalls. Overall a good team in pretty ordinary weather at the start.
The sun eventually shone and out the customers came. Geoff Gledhill

Educational Experiences in Malaysia

Helen Morgan is a member of the Inner Wheel Club of Kota Kinabalu.

Helen was a guest speaker at our RC Luyang in Kota Kinabalu (KK) in 2017 where she discussed her experiences in education in Malaysia. Her observations over time led Helen to develop a supporting tool to help kids with their maths “times tables”. Helen developed the HAPPY MATHS card game which has been trailed by friends at the Inner Circle Club at Phillip Island. Helen regularly receives visits to Sabah (KK is the capital city of that State) from members of the Phillip Island club. She will present today on matters generally concerning the status of education in Sabah, the role she and fellow “foreign” teachers have played and her ideas for improving maths education in the young and maintain skills with the old.
