Message from the President
This Wednesday the topic is the District 9815 Conference for this year. This year the conference will be in Hobart and will be combined with District 9830. Our speakers will be Linda O’Brien and Karin Soster. I would encourage members to attend, even if you have been to many conferences or perhaps have no intention of attending, as you may hear something new that may change you mind.
There are a number of upcoming events that I would like to mention, the first is a social function,Pizza Pasta and Poetry, on the 15th August at Kings Park Tennis Club. We have had this type of function a number times before and they have been very enjoyable evenings.
Our first evening meeting for the year will be on the 21st August at Cilantro, it needs to be noted that this is a Thursday. The evening will feature a presentation from the Moorabbin SES and the dinner will be three courses prepared by the Cordon Bleu chefs and students.
Our club is again involved with the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA ) programme. Our involvement is in escorting the students between activities, we are not doing any educational tasks, though we can sit in on the sessions, which I have found to be very interesting. Each of these programmes are for a school. Our event will be for Cheltenham Secondary College, at Sandown Greyhound track 25th August. Julie Reid is looking for Club members to assist on the day. REGISTRATION FOR MEETINGS All meetings will now utilise the Registration facility. asking members to register their attendance, or non-attendance, at Club meetings. Note that it is equally important that guests are registered as well.
Members can either register as soon as the event appears in the calendar or respond to the invitation(s) via email to members in the week prior to the meeting. This email will contain a direct link to the event registration page. Here, we ask that you either accept or decline the invitation. You will also have the opportunity to add any guests. Once registered for the event, you will no longer receive an email for that event.
If you choose not to register either your intention to attend or not, it will be assumed you are not attending.

The Rotary Club of Pascoe Vale, Vic, is lighting up lives globally while inspiring local school communities to take action on energy poverty.
Finding meaningful projects is a challenge for all Rotary clubs. When a project engages Rotarians in their local community with a positive outcome for communities abroad, then it is ticking many boxes.
Of interest to Club officers and, perhaps members in general is a document entitled Resource Guide for Rotary Club Officers.
It has been compiled by the RI South Pacific and Philippines Office of Rotary International.
It contains a wealth of information aimed more at Club Officers, as opposed to general membership. All Club Officers are encouraged to familiarize them selves with its contents.

GUEST SPEAKER - Grant Holland of the Holland Foundation
Grant is founder and director of the Holland Foundation, a registered not-for-profit charity, based in Centre Road, Bentleigh.
As Editor of the Bulletin and responsible for the Club's website I am asking members to please consider sending me any news about events they may have attended on behalf of the Club or any project that is being undertaken by the Club.
I am very happy to convert your news into a story which will then appear in the Bulletin, but, more importantly, appear on our Website.
This will show any people coming to our Website what our Club is involved in and the projects we support.
So, please take some photographs and put together some words - I will do the rest. Please send me your photos in the highest resolution possible via email or WhatsApp. I will do the cropping etc. Please DO NOT send pics via SMS (MMS). These are next to useless.
Also, don't bother creating the article in Word or similar-just adds work. Just send the words and a few pics. I will do the rest.
The beginning of the new Rotary year is a time to remind Rotarians of our global message – Unite for Good.

The power of human connection: The power of human connection is a fundamental aspect of Rotary. I encourage members to welcome new faces and strengthen these bonds. I believe that Rotary’s greatest gift to the world is its people and the relationships they forge.

Rotary and Road Safety Education: Keeping our young drivers safe behind the wheel - From July 2025 RDU Magazine here
As a community partner of Road Safety Education Ltd (RSE), Rotary clubs and members have been coordinating the Ryda program since 2001. Working side by side with RSE, state police and government departments, Rotary continues to deliver this essential program, keeping our youth safe on the roads and teaching them how to make responsible decisions as both drivers and passengers.
To address a maternal health crisis, Rotary members help midwives build leadership skills and professional networks - By Hannah Shaw
About 830 women and 7,000 newborns, mainly in low- and middle-income countries, die each day because of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. These deaths are mostly preventable. Midwives are key to preventing them, so an initiative organized by Rotary members is supporting the essential work of midwives in Papua New Guinea and Australia.
Jenny Stone was our chairperson for today's club meeting at Cilantro. Guests included our guest speaker, PDG Dr Daryl Moran, Jenny Moran, PDG Bob Richards, Nicki Chung, and Gary Ramage.
Past President Tim Lynch had the very pleasant duty of presenting a Certificate of Appreciation to our Youth and Vocational Chair, Julie Reid, who, together with her team, does a power of work in the background for the Youth/Vocational committee.
District 9815 held their Changeover function on Saturday evening at the Pakenham Racecourse.
Members Peter and Linda O'Brien, Ian Ballantine and Helen Parker along with 2025-26 Club President, Grant Perry were in attendance. Also there was Nicky Chung (member of RC Wonthaggi), who will be familiar to Club members as was Sandringham member and friend of our Club, Bob Richards.

A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is far superior.
