GUEST SPEAKERS - Peter Allen, Vice Principal - Cheltenham S.C., and student Daniel - RYDA Program
Peter opened by thanking our club for sponsoring the recent RYDA event for the school's Year 11 students at Sandown Racetrack on Monday 17 August, recognising the importance and benefits of this training when students are already on their Driver license L plates, and how relevant the learnings are.  Peter mentions his own daughter attended a RYDA program, and who spoke of her learnings and the benefits that served as reminders for him as well.
Daniel spoke of his experience at this year's RYDA program and the highlights that resonated with him that included appreciating vehicle stopping distances at varying speeds, interaction with other passengers in a vehicle that can cause distractions and when to speak up, recognising personal emotions that can impact driving behaviour and strategies how to overcome before driving, and other learned facts that were presented during the day.  He appreciated the RYDA training was provided at the most appropriate time when he and his school friends are currently on the road building up their driving hours in readiness for obtaining their Driver license P Plates, and that the learnings can be applied immediately..
Throughout the presentation, Ian displayed photos taken at the RYDA event to illustrate some of the activities undertaken during the day.
Thank you Peter and Daniel for your reflections on RYDA, and how much you and your school appreciate our club's support for continuing to support this program.
