GUEST SPEAKER - Libby Dewar - Program Coordinator at GESAC
Libby has a background in finance and stockbroking, but at age 30, she took a career change to follow her passion and work in a role that connected with people.  Libby started out as a personal instructor in private enterprise.  She commenced at GESAC part time in 2015 and found the facilities and people to be wonderful.  More recently, she was appointed as Program Coordinator at GESAC focusing on programs designed for people with disabilities.  Glen Eira has 3 main facilities offering fitness programs to the public - GESAC, Caulfield Recreational Centre, and the Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool Complex that is due to reopen this coming summer.   Aims are for inclusion and diverse programs for all people of all abilities.     Currently ages range from 5 to 101 with programs designed for people with physical limitations, dementia, psychosis, MND, and people using NDIS funding.  Group training and mentoring is provided to GESAC staff to work with people with disabilities.  Group exercise programs are very popular - a report for August 2024 shows 19,000 people participated in group exercises programs at GESAC, and 4,500 people at Caulfield Recreational Centre.  It is expected the Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool Complex will employ over 600 staff when it opens.  GESAC has partnerships with allied health services and the Glen Eira Council.  Feedback is important and Libby encourages everyone to provide feedback when the opportunity arises.  The goal is to make the facilities available for everyone.    Thank you Libby for your very informative presentation and showing the facilities are designed to be much more than swimming laps of the pool and pumping iron - but are designed to reflect the broadening needs of today's modern exercising lifestyles.

ROSTERS and ANNIVERSARIES were announced.
