There was a change in the project this year. As well as the usual Christmas Cakes and Puddings, Helen suggested that after the torrid year we had been through, that we should prepare 100 hampers of Treats to cheer people up. The hampers are to be given to Holland Foundation, Family Life and Glen Eira Community Information and Support for distribution to their ‘ clients’, as well as a load of Cakes to the Salvation Army. The thinking was that while plenty of people were in need of baked beans and staples, some ‘’treats’ would be appreciated at this time.

Accordingly, Margaret and Linda raided Costco, Coles and other stores for discount items including Jams, chocolates, Tim Tams and other edible items, and packed these into our Bentleigh Market bags. Each bag was topped with a small cake tied (by Linda)
with a ribbon and accompanied by a flyer explaining where it was from. 100 bags cover the floor of a good sized bed room!
