McKinnon Secondary College Run MCK Annual Athletics Carnival

The youth of today are tomorrow’s future and it is important that we support them.

McKinnon Secondary college’s Interact club which RCBMC proudly sponsors and supports held its major annual fund-raising event on Friday last 17th August in the school grounds starting at 9am and concluding at 6pm.

This day was brilliantly organised by the team, supported by all school students, teachers, staff, families and friends.

Within a carnival atmosphere with music, school bands, food, drinks, and a walkathon/runathon around the sports oval everyone joined in the festivities raising a significant amount of money for the Monash children’s hospital.

We were proud to be included in charge of the sausage sizzle and as such thanks go to Peter Guttman for getting the day started, Grant Perry for putting in a full school day cooking, Margaret Lucas for a sterling effort over the rush hour or four and myself along with our exchange student Jade who cooked at the event after school. —Jade’s  first bar b que cook up and sausage in bread.

There were quite a few dignitaries joined in on the day and they continue to support this energetic school. These included Nick Staikos, Shane Burgoyne and Peter Hitchener.

Our club will be presenting a cheque to McKinnon Interact for $2,000 as inclusion to the overall monies raised on the day at a school assembly in the near future.

Another advantage on this day was that Jade had the opportunity to meet and talk with members of this Interact club to share stories, ideas and how things are done in Brazil as well now in Australia. The outcome is that some of the girls will stay in touch with Jade during her exchange time here in Australia.
